Hey Will,

I'm talking about transparency as it's commonly used in business. The degree of openness applied is a balance; optimized to fulfill certain responsibilities, keep stakeholders happy, maximize trust, and at the same time protect proprietary information.

According to the dictionary definition, you're absolutely right.

You're also right about people being nerds. ;)

I've never heard of the word 'transparency' being defined as finding some sort of balance between disclosure and omission - transparency is a synonym for openness, period.

As for people who talk like that in social exchanges, they are nerds.

I think that's all.
